This is the team behind CustomerSure. We hope the information here answers your questions about our skills, experience and values.

If you have any other questions then we’d love to hear from you — please contact us.

Who are we?

We all have a background in business software and our experience ranges from traditional commercial products to the latest techniques in web development.

We want to deliver high quality software that combines traditional values (speed, reliability and functionality that delivers business benefits) with the new capabilities of the Internet (simplicity, ubiquity, low maintenance and low cost).

Our Goal

Our goal is to build a business that is successful by delivering software and ideas that our customers value.

We aim to deliver first class tools to our customers to help them in their quest to deliver excellent service to their own customers (or clients, patients, scholars, visitors, passengers…)

We’re proud of what we do, but we’re not complacent and we value any feedback that will help us do a better job. As we look to grow the team here, the values that make someone a good fit are commitment, integrity, attention to detail and teamwork - and of course the desire to deliver a great experience to our own customers.

I’ve worked in the software industry since 1984 and my interest started long before that. My roles at Logica, British Airways and Sage have included responsibility for product development, professional services and, in the last few years, a commercial role in Customer Services. I’m a Chartered Electrical Engineer and I qualified in Engineering at the University of Exeter. I founded CustomerSure after seeing how showing customers’ words directly to the people delivering the service had a dramatic effect on customer satisfaction, retention and their propensity to recommend. Outside work — father of two, running, chairman of a Christian charity and a weakness for petrol-engined garden tools.

After graduating in my chosen discipline of Computer Science I’ve chosen to specialise in web application development. Before joining CustomerSure I worked in two consultancy positions that gave me the opportunity to learn the end-to-end process of delivering business software. For me, the ambition of helping to create a software company at the highest level, together with the core principle of improving customer service makes this role a perfect fit. Outside the office I enjoy staying active through running, football and the occasional thrill-seeking sport such as snowboarding or mountain biking.

For the past 7 years I’ve worked in web site and web application development. My background is in software development, but my roles have ranged from server side development and architecture to front-end engineering to product management, process design and customer service. After recognising that customer service is the most important way that a business can differentiate itself, I joined CustomerSure to work on the development of our core application. Outside of work, I fit sleep around playing in a hard rock band, promoting club nights, playing football, and bouldering.

I started my business adventures at the tender age of 23 when I found myself co-director of a strategic marketing company in Newcastle. This went on to become one of the North East’s most notable full-service agencies, at which point I sold my half in order to find an even better way to help companies communicate. Through Stick Theory I now work closely with business managers and leaders to understand the market insights and real customer needs that their products and services exist to support. Together we develop ideas, tools and tactics to engage customers with relevant propositions, creating stronger relationships with mutual benefit. Working with CustomerSure means I’m part of a talented, focused, and robust team that echoes precisely my own feelings around the importance of exceptional customer service; and it’s also an opportunity to take the debate about customer service beyond the big brands and into the heart of the SME community – where its role as a key differential is getting more and more important.
